Inbody - body composition measurement
InBody 270 - Body Composition Measurement
The InBody 270 body composition measurement provides precise information about your body composition. This measurement method offers crucial insights into your body’s condition and allows you to monitor whether you are achieving your desired results with the right exercise and nutrition plan. For example, if your goal is to increase muscle mass, the InBody measurement enables you to track muscle mass development accurately. Conversely, if you want to lose weight, you can monitor the reduction in body fat while preserving muscle mass.
Measurement Technique
The InBody devices use a method based on bioimpedance, or the body's electrical conductivity. During the measurement, a very small electrical current is passed through the body. Different tissues contain varying amounts of water and therefore conduct electricity differently. By analyzing the attenuation of the electrical current as it passes through the body, the composition of the body can be inferred. Unlike other devices on the market, InBody also takes into account that different body parts conduct electricity differently. It divides the body into five separate areas, ensuring accurate measurement even for individuals with atypical body structures, such as athletes and the elderly. The measurement is safe and quick, and the device is approved for medical use. Since the device uses a small electrical current, measurements cannot be performed on individuals with pacemakers or pregnant women.
Measurement Report
The InBody measurement report is always reviewed with an expert. You will go through the key results and receive recommendations for any essential health-related changes. You will receive a report that includes the following results:
Weight: total weight, lean mass, muscle mass, body fat percentage, and body water content
Muscle and fat balance
Weight control and health indicators: basal metabolic rate, body mass index, ideal weight for your body type, fat and muscle control, and visceral fat amount. Assessment of energy expenditure in different activities.
How to Prepare for the Measurement?
Due to the measurement method, it is crucial to stabilize your fluid balance. Medications affecting fluid balance may skew the results, and women should perform the measurement at the same phase of their menstrual cycle. The most reliable results are obtained in the morning, as the legs may swell throughout the day.
